DEEPASHRI VARADHARAJAN

After graduating as an electronics engineer without knowing how to fix a light bulb, I am finally where I belong.

I like a lot of things. One day I am in a mood for science, the other day art and on another, playing James Bond or simply reading George Orwell. It’s the freedom to do what I want to do without having to confine myself to one stream that I enjoy most about being a journalist. And I love multimedia for the simple reason that I get to express myself the way I want to--with photos, videos, text, or simply by tweeting! :-)

I love the everyday challenges and adrenalin rushes, and the huge responsibility that comes with being a journalist. I like covering science and development issues. But no matter what you specialize in, you will stumble upon stories where all areas of specialization intersect. There’s so much to learn and uncover that every single day is a treat for the mind!

I am not a desk person and I can’t design even if my life depended on it. But hey, here’s to a lifetime of responsible reporting and loads of adventure!!
