Mahesh, an office boy at the school, allegedly shot the deceased and injured her friend within the school premises on Tuesday night. Questions have been raised over how he came to be in possession of the gun.

Dr. Ballal,a  medical instructor at Manipal Hospital, where the other injured girl is being treated, said the victim suffered multiple injuries to her jaw, mouth and face and needed a surgery.

Dr. C. Ramesh, the victim’s uncle told The SoftCopy the surgery had been completed and the girl was out of danger.

“She is conscious and wants to speak about the incident, but she can’t speak due to the injury’s effect on her jaw,” Ramesh said.
