About Us:
Bangalore’s CityCast is the website that hosts the broadcast stories, a production of the students of the Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media (IIJNM).
The students build this website using Dreamweaver. They do all of the reporting from Bangalore, a city of at least 10 million people. The students write, shoot, record and edit their own stories and upload them to YouTube, once they are approved. The students also write their own headlines and anchor leads. Some stories air in the weekly news bulletin (newscast) or radio bulletin, but almost all the stories are posted on CityCast. A small group of producers use all of the broadcast stories to build CityCast on deadline.
The faculty at IIJNM comes with years of professional experience to teach the students how to function as full-time journalists. The professors are able to guide the students to develop their broadcast and multimedia journalism skills. Each student is taught the pros and cons of ethical reporting. The students produce original stories and publish them in bulletins and on websites on a weekly basis. These stories were produced by IIJNM’s trainee journalists for television and radio or as documentaries.
